As mediators, we find ourselves in a unique position to observe situations where domestic abuse may be occurring. It is crucial that we possess the ability to recognize the signs and are equipped with the necessary tools to provide assistance. This domestic violence workshop is a comprehensive training addressing the alarming prevalence of intimate partner violence. This course delves into the multifaceted nature of domestic violence, providing participants with an in-depth understanding of abuse as well as practical principles to effectively assist those experiencing domestic violence.
DV101 – Understanding Domestic Violence:
Statistics show that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will be affected by intimate partner violence in their lifetime. This training is designed to give an in-depth look into domestic violence and the various forms it can take. The training will help students to identify red flag behaviors while in intimate partner relationships. We want to help bring understanding as to why victims often stay with their abusers and examine the cycle of violence and how the cycle can be broken.
Learning Objectives:
How Help – What to do when a client is in an unhealthy relationship
We will also focus on warning signs, harmful behaviors, barriers to leaving, starting the conversation, safety planning, and codependency. The session not only instructs but gives easy-to-apply principles to aid in offering support to a client who is in an unhealthy or abusive relationship.
After the successful completion of the training, all participants will receive a certification of completion.
